A brief look into some of the work I did at Green Dot as Senior UX Designer.

I was initially tasked with helping the marketing department transition their two primary brand properties, Green Dot and GoBank from being “framework-less” to total re-creation within an innovative v1.0 UX framework created by Jason Conness and lead front-end developer Don Osborne.

A team of three, we worked diligently to recreate all assets for each section of both sites, reproduced in up to 10 different sizes/resolutions, with SEO friendly naming.

It was a big first project and a wonderful introduction to Green Dot, the new framework, content and my team.

With the new framework in place I joined the UX team full time as Senior UX Designer.

Working with the VP of UX, we put into place, Green Dot’s first Lean UX program specifically to improve the premier brand, web and mobile.

I lead a cross-functional team, we met multiple times per week crafting problem statements, assumptions, hypotheses, personas and design studio sketches.

I produced Green Dot’s lean ux documentation for the team to work through, including customer journey sketch sheets, interview advertisements and scripts, etc.

From there it was all about quick prototyping to test our work with real customers. Then rinse and repeat.

 I transitioned back into marketing to be a part of a two person team to help the department adhere to UX style guidelines.  Having spent a year on the UX team, I knew the framework better than anyone so when marketing folks wanted us to design updates to implement to the sites. I’d help them translate it using our internal guidelines.

My work at Green dot was spent producing updates to both their web and mobile apps (responsive and native). It was about 85% maintenance and 15% functional improvements.

 When opportunities would present themselves, I'd explore ways to learn more about our customers while at the same time helping them forget they were actually banking.
